/ Manufaktur Haslach
MANUFAKTUR HASLACH is a socio-economic enterprise which has dedicated itself to processing the naturally renewable raw material of wool. Wools of merino sheep from the Mühlviertel region and from other Central European breeds are turned into yarns, fabrics and high-quality felts. Care is taken that the products be suitable to the natural material, and are of timeless quality and sound design.
MANUFAKTUR HASLACH was founded in 1990 to offer regional sheep farmers an outlet for their wool, and to continue spinning the yarn of tradition in a place with a rich textile history. A hammer fulling machine, a sewing room, spinning and weaving workshops in the house ensure a largely continuous and transparent chain of production. As part of the Textile Centre Haslach the MANUFAKTUR HASLACH offers visitors and experts a profound insight into the processes of production and into historical and modern textile culture. The spinning and weaving shops can be visited by the public as part of a guided tour. The other production areas can be visited in the course of a behind-the-scenes tour where one can see the way of raw wool to the finished product up close.
The variety of tasks and production experience from raw material to the finished product is an important component of the social responsibility of MANUFAKTUR HASLACH. 12 persons with disabilities find a sponsored place of work here, as well as social assistance and the possibility for further training and self-improvement. The focus hereby is on communicating a positive relationship to work and the opportunity to develop individuality.
