Report Experimental workshop beFLÜGELt, 23 - 28 February 2024

At the "beFLÜGELt" experimental workshop at the end of February, 10 enthusiastic textile enthusiasts met at our premises to devote several days to the topic of primary textile techniques. The marvellous objects from the Flügel Collection, which can be seen in the current special exhibition, provided the impetus for research-based, collaborative work. The ethnographic objects were analysed in detail, reconstructed in part and specialist knowledge was exchanged. The focus was on sharing expertise, imparting techniques to each other and finding inspiration in the objects that "inspire" new interpretations. They were very stimulating days that will certainly be continued! Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their knowledge of these techniques, some of which have almost been forgotten!

ETN-Artists in Residence at the Textile Centre Haslach, 18. 02. – 01.03.2024

We are delighted to have hosted three interesting young artists as artists in residence at the Textile Centre Haslach! From 18 February to 1 March, the Textile Centre Haslach, in cooperation with the European Textile Network, advertised three Artist in Residence places to use the existing infrastructure to realise their own projects. 35 people applied and submitted their project ideas. Three exciting personalities were selected from these:

◾ Khristina Vysotskaya from Belarus for the field of dobby weaving
◾ Katerina Nakou from Greece for the field of tufting
◾ Leonie Burkhardt from Germany, resident in Sweden, for the Jacquard weaving area

Some insights into their stay can be found in this report.
